GS 400 Description:

Geniscan GS400 Professional Vehicle Diagnostic Tool
OBDII & EOBD Car/Van Scanner/Diagnostic Trouble Code Reader & Reset Tool
Use this handheld unit to read the generic and manufacturer specific DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) stored in your vehicle's EMS (Engine Management System). The EMS reports a fault by illuminating the ECL (Engine Check Light) on the dashboard. This is usually as a result of an electronic sensor failure. In a few seconds, identify the problem directly from the unit display. Once the fault has been repaired the DTC's can then be erased from the EMS using the device. This will in turn reset the ECL. Other features include: detection of the OBDII freeze frame information and the retrieval of the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on vehicles from 2002 onwards that support Mode 9.

Some vehicles up to 2001 may not be compatible due to the manufacturers using their own proprietary systems. A small number of petrol vehicles from 1994 and 1995 are also OBDII compliant. To check this locate the vehicle emissions control information label - which is usually located under the bonnet by the radiator. Alternatively, if you are unsure that your vehicle is compatible seek advice from your main dealer.

Full unit functionality is dependent on the vehicle manufacturer adopting the OBD II standards and functions for your vehicle.

The location of the DLC (Data Link Connector) socket is usually within 50cm from the steering wheel. Remove the blanking cap (if present) to gain access to the socket.
